Newton Property, a lettings management company in Scotland, is spending £100,000 on installing electric car charging points in properties it manages.It aims to have at least 50 points up and running by 2020.The Scottish Government has set a target to phase out new petrol and diesel cars by 2032, with only battery electric vehicles and plug-in hybrid electric vehicles allowed.
The firm’s turnover for 2019 is expected to be £3.5m and Newton’s management portfolio consists of over 20,000 tenants and 600 letting clients.
A campaign – called Newton’s Green Vision – says it also wants to help customers generate electricity from installation of solar PV schemes, install LED lighting and smart lighting controls, and use derelict areas of ground as carbon stores through co-ordinated tree planting schemes.
